RISE Youth Dance is seeking new board members to help shape our future and support our mission to make high quality dance experiences that are inclusive and accessible to children and young people across Bristol.
What We’re Looking For?
We’re looking for people who are:
● Passionate about creative work with children and young people
● Interested in dance
● Committed to helping us break down barriers and increase access to dance in Bristol
We’d especially love to hear from individuals with skills or experience in:
● Fundraising or finance
● Education
● Procedures, policies and safeguarding
● Business development or marketing
● Community engagement and outreach
No prior board experience is required — we welcome fresh perspectives and will support
you to grow into the role.
What’s Involved?
As a board member, you will:
● Attend 4 x two hour meetings per year (January, April, July, October)
● Join us for one away day annually
● Have one one-to-one meeting with the directors for more detailed support
● Attend at least one RISE event per year to experience our work in action
● Set aside occasional time to review budgets, policies, and funding applications
● Be committed to a minimum of a 3 year term as a board member
We’re Also Looking for a New Chair/Co-Chairs
If you have previous board experience and a passion for leading, we’d love to hear from you.
The Chair(s) will:
● Have strong communication and leadership skills
● Facilitate effective and inclusive board meetings
● Dedicate an additional day per year to support development alongside the RISE
Directors
● Collaborate closely with the board and staff team
● Understand the legal and strategic responsibilities of the board
